I love traditional decorations for the Christmas tree. My favorite one is a glass bell with a little angel inside. It ties to the tree with a red ribbon and actually does ring with a crystal bell sound. I have had it for several years and it has survived kids, grandkids and even a house fire during Christmas time. Such memories...

The little plastic Nativity I received in Sunday School 40 years ago was my favorite until it broke last year. Now it is all the ornaments my Mom made for my children and I.

My favorite Christmas decoration in this cheesey shell with a plastic angel glued inside of it, fake rhinestones glued in beams behind her, and even a little fake grass glued at the bottom for her to kneel in. I paid a dime for it at an estate sale.

A group of hand knitted mice representing for me God's love, hope and faith. The detail and workmanship were exquisite but these little sweeties helped me learn about God's faithfulness to us and how much he loves us, regardless of what we accomplish or make with our lives, he regards us as precious individuals and it dosent matter how others see us as much as how he sees us... they helped me find hope to carry on with new strength and courage.

Years ago (several millenia ago when I was a child and then young mother) our local department store had a Santa's workshop of elves that worked mechanically on toys, mail, and with the reindeer. I loved it then and miss it now. Recently parts of the workshop surfaced and they were shown in an empty shop window. It was a Christmas of memories.

My favorite ornament of all time belonged to my mother when she was a girl. It was an old fashioned ball ornament about 3.5 inches in diameter, a matte cream in color. There was a grid across the ornament in the shape of small diamonds - it was made of glitter, and inside each diamond was a tiny circle, painted in different colors. Each year I looked forward to seeing the handful of antique ornaments she'd managed to hold on to. After several years of marriage I managed to talk my mom into giving me the treasured ornament. Excitedly I put it in a shoe box and placed it on the floor in the back seat of our car. Little did I know disaster was right around the corner. When it was time to go home my husband went around to my side of the car and mindlessly tossed his heavy dress shoes onto the floor of the car, right on top of the ornament, crushing it to pieces. To this day I have no idea why he chose to throw his shoes behind MY seat instead of his driver side seat and why he didn't see the ornament sitting there in the box before he tossed the shoes there. It was one of the most unfathomable moments of my life. And I never told my mom about it!
